10% failure rate during custom ISO installation with Windows 25H2

MOoD90s

Question

Dear Sir/Madam,

We always generate customized ISOs with previous versions of Windows and all the programs used by the company.

Never use the sysprep feature; always use only the dism process after everything is installed and configured, and after the new install.wim file is generated and replaced in the newly installed Win11Pro\sources\install.wim folder, use the command oscdimg -u2 -udfver102 -m -o -bootdata:2#p0,e,bD:\Win11Pro\boot\etfsboot.com#pEF,e,bD:\Win11Pro\efi\microsoft\boot\efisys.bin D:\Win11Pro D:\New_ISO_Win11Pro_25H2.iso

For Windows 11 versions prior to 25H2, it always worked correctly, and now for Windows 11 25H2, the new ISO is generated successfully, but when testing on a virtual machine or target machines, the installation is halted with an error after selecting and formatting the target disk when it reaches 10% of the installation. We have already generated several other media using sysprep and other methods, and all of them fail without the same problem.

We even took care to disable disk encryption before generating the final ISOs.

Get-BitLockerVolume

manage-bde -status

Disable-BitLocker -MountPoint c:

manage-bde -off C:

We have a fleet of over 600 machines and experience constant staff turnover.

Therefore, we need speed in the equipment formatting process. With my media already cleaned of bloatware and other unnecessary programs, in addition to the necessary configuration applications and programs, it allows us to add a machine to the domain and hand it over to the employee in less than 20 minutes.

I would appreciate the support of this forum regarding possible causes that could impact the generation of customized ISOs with Windows 25H2.

Sincerely,

Anderson
