This tutorial will show you how to enter and exit the Xbox Full Screen Experience (FSE) for gaming for your account on Windows 11.

Starting with Windows 11 build 26220.7271 (Dev and Beta 25H2), Microsoft expands the the Xbox full screen experience (FSE) to additional PC devices such as laptops, desktops, and tablets. The Xbox full screen experience begins as a gradual rollout to Windows Insiders on the Dev & Beta Channels, who are also registered Xbox Insiders. Microsoft expects to expand this later to all Insiders on Dev & Beta without requiring Xbox Insider program registration.

Xbox Full Screen Experience (FSE) requirements:

• Windows 11 build 26220.7271 (Dev and Beta 25H2) or higher
• Install Xbox app (default)
• Join the Xbox Insider Program
  1. Install and open the Xbox Insider Hub app
  2. Navigate to Previews > PC Gaming Preview
  3. Select Join

Designed with console-style navigation in mind, the Xbox full screen experience offers a clean, distraction-free interface for controller-first gaming. When it’s time to take a break from, grab your controller and dive into the immersive, simplified Xbox full screen experience on your PC. When you’re done gaming, switch back to your desktop and pick up right where you left off. Microsoft tailored the full screen experience for PCs to make switching in and out of the desktop as streamlined as possible.

Once you’ve entered the Xbox full screen experience, you’ll see the Xbox home screen and can access your games, including Xbox, Game Pass, Xbox Play Anywhere, and your installed games from other popular storefronts. It’s easy to switch between your open apps and games with just a long press on the Xbox button on your controller or on your keyboard.

Option One

1 Perform an action below:

• Press the + F11 keys to toggle FSE.
• While in FSE, press the key to exit FSE.

2 Click/tap on Continue if prompted to confirm Switching to full screen experience or Switching to Windows desktop. (see screenshots below)

Option Two

Enter and Exit Xbox Full Screen Experience from Task View

1 Open Task View (+Tab).

2 Perform an action below: (see screenshots below)

• Click/tap on Xbox full screen experience to enter FSE.
• Click/tap on Windows desktop to exit FSE.

3 Click/tap on Continue if prompted to confirm Switching to full screen experience or Switching to Windows desktop. (see screenshots below)

Option Three

Enter and Exit Xbox Full Screen Experience from Game Bar

1 Open the Game Bar (+G).

2 Click/tap on the Settings (gear) button on the game bar. (see screenshots below step 3)

3 In Settings, perform an action below: (see screenshots below)

• Click/tap on Enter full screen experience to enter FSE.
• Click/tap on Exit full screen experience to exit FSE.

4 Click/tap on Continue if prompted to confirm Switching to full screen experience or Switching to Windows desktop. (see screenshots below)

Option Four

Enter Xbox Full Screen Experience from Xbox app

1 Open the Xbox app.

2 Click/tap on the Home button in the left pane. (see screenshot below step 3)

3 Click/tap on the Xbox Full Screen button to the right of the search bar. (see screenshot below)

4 Click/tap on Continue if prompted to confirm Switching to full screen experience. (see screenshot below)
