The laptop freezes when windows is checking for updates

I don't know why this is happening but every time windows is checking for updates in the background(I think this is what is does),everything freezes for 3-5 seconds and the sound I get is the sound you usually get when you are expecting bsod

I know it is trying to download\check for updates but I don't like how this is done(everything freezes)
