portable eGPU and laptop use?

I have a dell Inspiron pc with a 1165g7 cpu, 64gb of ram and a 2tb ssd installed. I do photo and video editing work while I am travelling and I am thinking about getting a mini eGPU to plug into my TB4 port for some extra power? The eGPU will provide a benefit even using the laptop display, correct?
