This tutorial will show you how to enable or disable allowing Microsoft Edge to autofill existing passwords and passkeys for your account or all users in Windows 10 and Windows 11.
Microsoft Edge is the AI-powered browser. A smarter way to browse. As the only browser built and optimized for Windows, it’s AI-powered tools are designed to help you make the most of your time online. Whether you’re searching, shopping or gaming, AI-powered tools and a security-first approach help you stay productive, save money, and get things done your way.
Microsoft Edge makes it easy to save your passwords as you browse the web. When you enter a new password in the Edge browser on your desktop or mobile device, Microsoft Edge Ask to save passwords feature by default will ask if you want your username and password saved. The next time you visit the site, the browser will finish filling in your account info. If you’re signed into Edge with your Microsoft account, these passwords sync by default and become available across all of your signed in devices.
You can also manually add passwords for sites in the password manager in Microsoft Edge.
Microsoft Edge stores your passwords securely encrypted on your hard disk. However, someone else with access to your computer may be able to sign into your accounts using your stored passwords with autofill. Microsoft Edge gives you the option to enable a setting that requires you to authenticate yourself using your device credentials before you can use the saved password to autofill for a website.
