I just installed a new M.2 SSD with Windows 11 into my PC. Then installed Thunderbird but am unable to setup my email accounts.
I enter my name, email address, etc. TB comes back & says “The following settings were found by probing the given server.” Their data matches mine which is good.
TB started out by pre-selecting the OAuth authentication method. So I entered the long Secure mail key that I had but got an error message “Could not get OAuth details for hostname_xxxx. So I selected regular password & used my password, but that did not work either. Got a message “Unable to log in at server. Probably wrong configuration, username or password.” I tried a couple emails but neither worked. However I can login to the AT&T web site & access email so I know the passwords are OK
FWIW I took several screen shots while still on Win10 and the “Server Settings” > Authentication method indicates Normal password.
With the new install I cannot access Server Settings probably because nothing is setup. However I can access the Outgoing Server (SMTP) Settings.
I’m guessing I might need new OAuth secure mail keys, but how do I get those if I cannot setup my existing email accounts?
