Microsoft Defender Antivirus (Offline Scan) Always Require Bitlocker Recovery Key?

Windows 11 pro. I used Kaspersky total and paid for it for a while but I can no longer use it. So I'm using the free windows anti virus.


If I want to do the offline scan, it always ask me for the Bitlocker Recovery Key? Is this normal? With my old xps 15 9550 laptop and windows 10 pro, rarely did it do that if any. With the xps 15 9520 which I bought a few years ago, it does this now whenever I do this scan. The issue with this is I don't always have my Bitlocker Recovery Key with me all all times.


Does anyone know how good is it at scanning when doing full scan and this offline scan? It isn't as good as Kaspersky total right? I would like to pay and use Kaspersky but cannot anymore.
