Tried to print a MS word document today and it kept hanging and not connecting to the printer. Message at the top said Word failed to respond. Tried a few times, restarted and it was the same. Tried copying the text to notepad - the same. Tried printing from email - the same. So it's not word - it's the printer connection. It's an HP Envy. It was fine yesterday. Nothing has changed - no windows updates (they've been off for 2 or 3 weeks).
Meanwhile a pop up from Samsung magician saying it needed to restart. Clicked on that and a small window appeared saying it was initialising. Which got stuck and stayed like that a long time.
Did sfc/scannow and it found errors and repaired them. No difference - still no printing and still having the Samsung magician app popping up (cancelled it in task manager, restarted, set it to manual instead of automatic - but just the same).
Checked in settings and the printer was no longer listed. Added it again.
Opened HP smart to check printer status and issues - found all was fine. Asked if I wanted to print a test page. Yes. Nothing came out of the printer - that also got stuck.
So not sure what's going on here, but the Samsung magician popup came up at the same time as printing failed.
